CB West's Taylor & Reichwein Commit to Play Collegiate Football

On Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, Central Bucks West seniors Michael Taylor and Jake Reichwein were recognized for committing to continue their football careers at the collegiate level.

Jake Reichwein – Holy Cross University (Football)
Major:
Economics
Final list of colleges:  Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Army
Reasons for choosing Holy Cross:  “I went up and visited – they have a brand new head coach, and I really liked the campus. I really liked the football team, the intensity they bring to every practice. The school is one of the best in the country, and the opportunities you get after you graduate - a 22-year-old me is going to be pretty happy and in a good position.”
What was the progression that led you to playing football at the collegiate level?  “It was always my dream to play football in college. I always knew in the back of my head that if I worked hard it would come true. That’s just what happened. I’m really happy that I’m in a really good spot.”
Coach Chas Cathers says:  “Jake is an outstanding player for the football team as well as the basketball team. He was one of the leading tacklers in our league, he was a captain for us and our leading rusher and leading scorer, and he’s a great kid. I think what sets him apart is his outlook on sports and the effort that he puts into it. He’s got a great athletic mindset, but he stays humble, he stays dedicated and he’s a team player. That’s something that makes him excel. He doesn’t try to do too much. He understands his role, he understands other players’ roles, and he just goes at it, and he executes with 100 percent effort. That’s why he draws the best out of people that are around him.
“I’m really excited for him and the opportunity he has to play at Holy Cross. It’s been a long and brutal process of narrowing down the schools he wanted to go to, but I know he feels he has a home at Holy Cross, and he’s going to excel there.”

Michael Taylor – Bentley University (Football)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges:  Bentley, Ithaca, East Stroudsburg, Shippensburg
Reasons for choosing Bentley:  “They’re an up and coming program. The coach is awesome. It’s great football, and it’s an even better school. It’s at the top of what it does. Their business program is phenomenal. I also have a lot of family up there – I have two aunts, an uncle and my grandparents all within 30 minutes of campus. That’s big, and having both my mom and dad growing up right outside of Boston, it feels like home to me. That’s a big reason why I chose it.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “Since I was younger, it’s always been football that’s been my number one sport. It’s what I had a passion for the most. Once I got to the high school level, it was hard to keep playing three sports. I wanted to focus all my time, devote all my time to football, and it paid off. I used that time off to lift and keep getting bigger and stronger and faster. It’s paid off for me. It was a good decision for me.”
Coach Chas Cathers says:  “Michael played defensive end as well as guard. Jake and him have been playing together a long time. They were two outstanding players on the defensive side of the ball. Michael did a great job of really setting the edge on defense and was a key contributor to why our defense was so good last year. He’s another kid that does whatever we ask him to do. He was a team captain and one of those guys – you can’t get him off the field. He’s strong and he’s athletic, and he plays offense and defense.”
