Max Brown – University of Mary Washington (Soccer)

Major:  Business

Final list of colleges:  Mary Washington, Muhlenberg, Dickinson

Reasons for choosing Mary Washington:  “I think Mary Washington has the perfect combination of sports and education for me. Also, the coach really helped me throughout the recruiting process, and he was a really helpful advocate for me. He was a great family guy, and he was a huge part in helping me choose Mary Wash.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “I think it really started junior year. That’s one of the heavier recruiting years for soccer, and as my club team (FPA Premier) also has grown and progressed, I think we really have grown into a good team. Seeing that soccer has been such a big part of my life, I think it was huge for me to make that next step and finally decide that soccer was for me in college.”

Coach Bill Tonkin says:  “Max’s ball skills, his work rate, his leadership, his field vision made him stand out. He was usually, in my opinion, the best player on the field in most games he played in. He’s always working hard, always the leader, always trying to pick his teammates up and get them to play on top of their game as well. He was a great captain. I see him doing very well at the next level if he keeps up his work ethic. He’ll be a good player in college.”
