Jack Clark – La Salle University (Basketball)

Major:  Business

Final list of colleges:  La Salle, Dayton, UMass, South Florida, Penn State

Reasons for choosing La Salle:  “When I went on my official visit, it felt like a home field. I felt like everybody was there for me. All the coaches and players  - they felt like they were my friends already before I even met them.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level?  “My dream was always to play basketball, but I never thought I would have offers to go to D-I schools until this past summertime when I picked up offers. It’s very exciting.”

Coach John Timms says: “For the program, this is a great step in the right direction. For me as a coach, any time you have a player that is able to get a free education, you’re happy. I’m a Philadelphia guy, so if I can keep players home with the Big 5 or the Super 6, I would much rather deliver a player to those schools, so the fact that he chose La Salle makes me that much more happy because he’s a kid that’s staying home and we get to watch him grow like we did at Cheltenham. We’re happy that he has somewhat laid a trail of what a Division I player should look like, so now the younger guys coming behind him can actually see what it takes to get to that level. It’s been a great ride. He’s a great kid, so it couldn’t happen to a better person.
“There are not too many players that you can find at 6-7 that can shoot the ball as well as he does. If you have a 6-7 shooting guard – even if you go on the highest level of basketball, that would be an exceptional height for that position. At 6-3, 6-4, he’s a pretty good player, but at 6-7 being able to stroke the ball the way he can, it’s the Klay Thompson type of player.”
