Chris Myarick – Temple University (Football)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Temple, Pitt

Reasons for choosing Temple:  “After visiting both schools, I just felt like I had a better fit at Temple, a better feel for the campus. I like my opportunity to play there a little bit better. They didn’t sign any tight ends this year, and there are only three in front of me, so I have a really good opportunity there.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football?  “I always had it in the back of my mind, but after eighth grade is when I really decided I wanted to play all four years in high school. I would say after last year – that was the deciding factor, and I had a really good year this year.”

Coach Joe Groh says:  “In talking about Chris, I have to talk about him as a person before a player. I’ve done this a long time, and he’s as fine a young man as I have ever coached. He’s probably the most humble kid that I’ve ever had play for me. You saw how superior he was athletically, and never once does he ever allow that to give him that sense of arrogance. It’s amazing. I was amazed how he went through the entire year and never once did that present itself. That, to me, was the most impressive thing about him. The fact that he’s really fast and catches incredibly well – they’re all extra things, but his own persona is incredible. He’s a really good boy, aside from being really smart. He has a lot of skills sets working for him. He’s a complete kid. He’s a product of his environment. His parents have done a great job, and he’s taken it to the next level.
“He’s the leading receiver we’ve ever had, at least in my time. He’s had more catches than anybody, and it’s not like other teams didn’t know we were throwing to him. One guy was holding him and somebody else was chasing him. You knew we were going there  - if we’re throwing the ball, that’s where number one is. I hope that it’s going to come out in college, and we’ll see some really nice things.”
