Shannon Chynoweth – West Chester University (Soccer)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  West Chester, York, Misericordia

Reasons for choosing West Chester:  “It’s a good school in a nice area, and it has a good soccer program. It’s a big school, but it’s not too big.”

High school accomplishments:  Captain, three-year varsity starter, Coach’s Award, Defense Award, Second Team All-SOL

Coach Audrey Anderson says:  “At the banquet, I pulled Megan (Shenk) and Shannon aside to give them a coaches award this year because they both in their own way helped me, this being my first year at Pennridge filling Jorge’s shoes. Shannon never once complained to me about playing in the back this year after playing two years on the top and being so successful. What a team player. If she complained, she didn’t complain to me. I never heard a bad thing come out of that girl’s mouth. I’m so excited that she’s going on and playing local because that means I get to see more of the games. She’s a special kid. She really is. To be that selfless where she could have said, ‘Listen, I was one of our leading scorers last year, and I’m playing in the back.’ She was that player that whatever I needed from her she was going to do. That’s her, and I hope she keeps that attitude and keeps playing for her team and not for herself. She’s a great kid.”
