Leigh Ann Bertolet – Farleigh Dickinson University (Soccer)

Major:  Education

Final list of colleges:  Farleigh Dickinson, Manhattan, Florida Golf Coast, Florida International

Reasons for choosing Fairleigh Dickinson:  “I loved the atmosphere. The girls were all really close. They have a very nice community. The athletes are very close, and I really like being close to the city in New York.”

What was the progression that led you to playing soccer at the collegiate level?  “I always played soccer, and I always knew I might play in college. Around eighth or ninth grade I decided that’s something I really wanted to pursue.”

Coach Ginna Lewing says:  “Leigh Ann was fighting with a medical issue coming into the season that we were really concerned about. I wasn’t even 100 percent positive she was even going to get on the field. I don’t think she was either, but she weathered the storm and pushed through as best she could, and she ended up starting almost every single game for us, which was a real surprise for both her family and herself that she could battle through all the adversity she had out in front of her. She ended up having a really good year. I think she has enough versatility to play a lot of different positions in college. I really needed her in the back defensively all season long, but she was really a constant, consistent player for our team all season long.”
