Reasons for choosing Notre Dame: “The atmosphere of the campus, and it’s such a great academic school - with sports too, it was the total package.”
What was the progression that led you to playing softball at the collegiate level? “In eighth grade, when I started to play travel ball is when I really started to focus on softball. In my sophomore year, I changed teams, and I started playing on a really competitive team, and that’s when college coaches started coming and talking to me.”
Coach Hollie Woodard says: “I first met Bailey when she was a freshman. She was trying out for the freshman basketball team, and I was the freshman coach. Our first conversation was, ‘Are you the softball coach?’ I knew right then and there I was going to like her – we’re at a basketball tryout and she’s talking to me about softball.
“The thing about Bailey is she has an innate love of the game. It’s authentic. She plays for the thrill of competition, and she’s not in any way intimidated by the work that was necessary to get her here. In our program, we work her hard, but she’s committed to her travel programs in a way that’s allowed her every single year to get better and better and better. Bailey is really a product of the hard work she puts in during the offseason to get her to the status that she needs to be to go to Notre Dame.”
