Aidan Burke – Mercyhurst College (Wrestling)

Final list of colleges: Mercyhurst, Lehigh, Brown, Penn
Reasons for choosing Mercyhurst: “I chose Mercyhurst because of the programs they had. I either want to go pre-med or something on the lines of a PA (Physician’s Assistant) school, and Mercyhurst has a PA school on campus, so I could stay there for six years.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in wrestling at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about it after my sophomore year. I placed fourth in states, and I started getting a bunch of letters, and I realized, ‘Wow, I could really bring this to the next level.’”
Coach Tom Vivacqua: “Aidan is a focused, really committed athlete. Wrestling is really important to him. He works year round. He trains, he lifts, he runs – he does all the extra things because he’s a committed kid, and he wants to do well. He’s awesome. He practices so hard, and he’s such a good role model in the wrestling room for all the young kids. He was really our senior leader on the team with a group of very impressionable freshman. He had a couple of bad injuries this season – he had a concussion, he had a bad case of the flu, and he rolled his ankle, but he kept a good attitude the whole time.”
