Sabrina Crane – Bryant University (Softball)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Bryant, St. Joseph’s, Iona, Bucknell

Reasons for choosing Bryant:  “I chose Bryant because I fell in love with the campus when I visited, and I really connected with the coach and the team – they’re amazing. The campus and facilities are beautiful and totally top notch. I couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level?  “Growing up, I thought I was going to play in college. I was hoping to – that was a goal of mine. As I started getting older in middle school and freshman year, I backed off of it and didn’t think I was going to play in college. Sophomore year the high school coach (Giannina Cippoloni) really connected me to a bunch of college coaches. She really started that fire in me again. I was kind of late to the recruiting process, but then I decided I wanted to play college softball sophomore year.”

Coach John Engelhardt says:  “Sabrina was a leader on and off the field. She practiced as hard as she plays, which was helpful in teaching the underclassmen how to play the game. Sabrina wasn’t concerned with individual success – she just wanted the team to do well. Sabrina and Taylor (Amazeen) set a goal of being the first CR team since the schools split to make states.
“Something that was huge for our team was Sabrina helping our team through a challenging beginning of the season. She helped push our girls through the difficult times and brought the team together. I haven’t coached a closer group than the team we were at the end of the year.”
