Madison Gouza – Temple University (Field Hockey)

Major:  Kinesiology

Final list of colleges:  Temple, Bucknell, American

Reasons for choosing Temple:  “The school is in the city, and I really wanted to go to the city. The city was a big draw for me.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate field hockey?  “My freshman year in high school I really thought about it. I had been playing club for about two years then, and I really liked field hockey. That’s what really sparked my interest early in high school.”

Coach Heather Whalin says:  “Since Madison's seventh grade year, she has always possessed a strong work ethic which was contagious on our young team last season.  She is in the greatest shape of her life, and she really wants to play at the next level.  She has the skill and game knowledge to really make an impact on the Temple team.  I couldn't be happier for her, and AJ (Temple coach Amanda Janney)) is a perfect coach for her.  I know the team is excited to go watch her play this year in college.”

Assistant coach Kim McKenna says:  “When I think about Madison, she’s an overall driven athlete. She’s very determined and team oriented. She’s one of those girls even as a young player going through the program who is just always stepping up her game and very determined to make things go well, not only for herself but also for her teammates.
“Madison is just an overall great person on and off the field. Seeing her within the school, she’s always, ‘Hey coach, what’s up?’ I see her with other teammates trying to get them pumped up. She’s going to be a great asset to Temple, and we’re all looking forward to see how she progresses throughout college.”
