Julianne Mangano – Cornell University (Field Hockey)

Major:  Biological Sciences

Final list of colleges:  Cornell, Penn, Lafayette

Reasons for choosing Cornell:  “Cornell really stood out because my sister went there, so I’ve been going to the campus ever since second grade. For me, that’s what college looked like. I loved the people when I went and visited. They’re extremely accommodating for balancing the sports with the academics.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “Halfway through my freshman year of high school, I realized I couldn’t imagine not playing, so I started to actually start looking that summer. At the beginning of my junior year was when I narrowed it down to where I really wanted to go.”

Coach Heather Whalin says:  “Julianne has been a four-year starter for North and broke the assist record at the school. She is a strong athlete and smart player. Jules will be an asset to Cornell, and I am excited to see what she can accomplish at the next level.”
