CR South Seniors to Play Collegiate Lacrosse

Brandon Follis – Christopher Newport University (Lacrosse)
Major:

Reasons for choosing Christopher Newport:  “Location, academics, and coaching staff”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about playing at the collegiate level my freshman year. I wanted a solid group of friends and I wanted it to help me get into a better college than I would have if I didn’t play. I also love the game.”
Coach Mike Murray says:  “Brandon was a captain. He played attack and was our leading scorer, and he’ll be taking his cannon shot to Christopher Newport. His strength is his shot – he’s a lefty, and he’s got a strong shot.”

Austin Gambino – Roanoke College (Lacrosse)

Reasons for choosing Roanoke:  “Strong academic school, strong lacrosse team”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I knew from a young age that I wanted to play lacrosse in college. When my older brother was recruited to play in college, I wanted to play even more. The recruiting process started for me when I was going into my junior year playing club lacrosse in summer showcases. When Roanoke contacted me, I was immediately interested.”

Coach Mike Murray says:  “Austin was a midfielder that played in all situations, and he was our leading midfield scorer. He also was a captain.”

Reasons for choosing King’s:  “Always wanted to play in college as a child. Joined my club team, Fusion Lacrosse, and they gave me the talent and ability and opportunity to be recruited.”
Coach Mike Murray says:  “Brendan is joining his brother (Jared) at King’s College. He played attack – he had a really good season and was third on the team in scoring. He’s got a high lacrosse IQ.”

Alex Lorence – Marywood University (Lacrosse)

Reasons for choosing Marywood:  “Lacrosse and liked the school”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I wanted to play in college after my sophomore season. Then after that we started the recruiting process with NCSA. I went to camps and clinics while practicing every day. It was a lot of driving around, but my parents didn’t mind.”
Coach Mike Murray says:  “Alec is a midfielder, and his best lacrosse is in front of him. He’s athletic, and his game will fit in good at the college level.”

Daniel Schlupp – Fairleigh Dickinson University (Lacrosse)

Reasons for choosing Fairleigh Dickinson:  “Had all the right academic tools I need to be successful in the future.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I have always had a love for the game and knew freshman year I would want to play at the next level. The summer between sophomore and junior years is when colleges began to recruit me. At the start of senior year, I came in contact with FDU.
Coach Mike Murray says:  “Danny was a captain, and he was a goalie and a two-year starter. He was very good when the shooter was in close on the doorstep, and he’s a great teammate. He’ll be going to Fairleigh Dickinson where we also have another goalie (Adam Reifer) who graduated in 2016.”
