Brittany Gable – Thomas Jefferson University (Track)

Major: Pre-Med

Final list of colleges:  Thomas Jefferson University, Ursinus College

Reasons for choosing Thomas Jefferson:  “Pre-medical program, ability to do preceptorships with hospitals close by and to run at the DII level.”

What was the progression that led you competing in track at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about (competing) in college in ninth grade. The recruiting process started in 11th grade. I received letters during school and reached out to the colleges I was interested in.”

Coach Deric Lynch says:  “Brittany is one of those athletes who might not receive all the accolades, but she’s always there. She is on paper a seven-time SOL selection, she’s a three-sport athlete, distinguished honors all the way through. There are two types of program kids – there are the program kids that get all the accolades and are superstars, and there are kids that build your program by character, by showing an example and by doing it and then also proving it. Brittany is going to be one of our top 10 all-time in career points. She’s never not earned a varsity award. She’s the leader of a group of girls that – even though it’s a team sport – it’s an individual sport. Putting 30-40 miles in a week is very difficult, and you have to have a certain type of mentality to be positive and really take a group of girls and keep them all the way through. It’s the largest senior class with almost 16 kids staying, so for 16 girls to stay together since they were freshmen, it says something to the character of the girls on our team and to what our program’s success has been. Her numbers are great, but even off the field, she’s a 4.4 GPA, going to Thomas Jefferson University pre-med, so she is the total package. Looking at my family and having a daughter, that’s what I’m hoping this journey ends up being for my daughter, and even if she doesn’t play sports, that’s someone who I want my daughter to be. Brittany is going to be successful. She’s really the role model you look for in any program. I couldn’t be happier for her and I wish her the best.”
