Brandon DiBona – Chestnut Hill College (Baseball)

Major:  Accounting

Final list of colleges:  Chestnut Hill, Misericordia, St. John’s, Towson, Rhode Island

Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill:  “When I first started talking to them, the coach gave me a call, and right when I started talking to him, we clicked. He’s a real cool guy, and I knew I wanted to play for him. I visited the campus - it was nice, and they gave me an offer.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball? “I started thinking about it when I started varsity as a freshman, and my coach told me and my parents it was a possibility. I started reaching out to schools, and they started reaching out to me, especially after Carpenter Cup when they really started sending me letters.”

Coach Rick Penecale says:  “Brandon was solid all around. When the season started, I told him he was going to be my three hitter and I was going to put him in center field. I pretty much forgot about him at that point, and that’s a good thing. I never had to worry about that position. I always knew I was going to have a solid hitter in the middle of my lineup. He’s a good defensive player and has a good arm. We asked him to put a couple of bunts down this year, and he did that. He just was the kind of kid that from the beginning I saw him as my centerfielder and three hole hitter, and he was in that position for every game we played.
“Brandon was a four-year varsity player. He’s just a real good baseball player, and he had a real good career at Tennent. If you had nine kids like that, it would make your job real easy.
