Kevin Duggan – West Chester University (Football)

Major:  Business/Accounting

Final list of colleges:  West Chester, Kutztown, Susquehanna

Reasons for choosing West Chester:  “I just really loved the town - it’s a great place to go to school. I’m majoring in business, and they have a really good business program at West Chester. I also loved the football team. It’s a great group of guys. I love the coach down there – Bill Zwaan, and I really thought it was a good fit for me. I think I’m going to fit into their defense pretty well.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football?  “Basically, after my junior year, I realized I had the potential to play in college. I’ve been playing football my whole life, and I knew that I was definitely going to be playing after my junior year, and after that, I started talking to colleges.”

Coach Brian Hensel says:  “We loved Kevin from the day he walked in the door. He stepped on the field for us immediately and started for us as a sophomore, which is a very difficult thing to do. He played an outside linebacker for us in a three-five scheme, and immediately you could see his athleticism. Not only was he able to step on the field for us as a defensive player, but he also did a lot of special teams too. He loved to tackle, and he had a good sized body that could move well, and you knew that this was a kid you were going to base a lot of your schemes on for the next few years.
“Kevin’s a tremendous locker room guy. You can never underestimate how important it is for other team members to gravitate toward a good athlete, but a good athlete who is a good locker room guy is invaluable. The chemistry Kevin put together for the team really allowed us to have some successes this year and over the last few years.”
