Sean Gallagher – Marymount University (Baseball)

Major:  Business

Final list of colleges:  Marymount, Immaculata, Penn State Abington

Reasons for choosing Marymount:  “When I visited the campus, I really liked it. I thought I would fit in well there and the opportunity to play baseball.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball?  “I started thinking about it my junior year, and going into the summer, I was at a lot of showcases and tournaments, but I got hurt. That stalled me last summer. I did camps my senior year. I went to Marymount, and that’s when I decided.”

Coach Dave Torresani says:  “Third base is his main position, but he also pitched for us because he had to. We needed pitchers, and he did a nice job. Defensively, he’s ridiculously good, and that was his strength coming into this year, and he just blossomed offensively. He batted over .400 most of the year and showed power this year. He hit a home run and seven doubles. He got so good at getting on base that I actually moved him up from the third spot to the leadoff spot. Every ball he hit – it was hit hard. You have to give him a lot of credit because he worked in the offseason on his bat, and he knew he had to do that. He’s the kind of kid who can be an example – hey look, just because you may not have experienced great success, keep working at it because good things can happen, and it did. He’s going to Marymount and made the Carpenter Cup team, which is another great thing. He’s a great kid and a great student, and that’s even more important. He’s a true student-athlete.”
