Marissa Glatt – Lehigh University (Field Hockey)

Major:  Business

Final list of colleges:  Lehigh, Lafayette, Vermont, Temple, St. Joseph

Reasons for choosing Lehigh:  “I just like the campus – I’ve always liked it, and they had a good lacrosse team and academics, so it was a good mix.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate field hockey?  “I have known since I was little that playing in college was something I always wanted to do. I’ve always been playing field hockey, and I’ve always loved it. I knew that was something I wanted to do.”

Former coach Erin Scott says:  “Marissa is a very talented athlete. She was an offensive powerhouse for the team. She was our top goal scorer, and she was an offensive leader. She has good speed, and she puts herself in position to take strong shots. She has good stick skills, and she was almost always involved in corner play – she can lift the ball, she can chip the ball, she can do reverse shots. She has that added skill set to make her a threat to other teams.”

Coach Dipi Bhaya says:  “Marissa is an amazing gifted and talented athlete, and she will be successful at anything she does because she has the dedication, the heart, the commitment and the passion to be great at whatever she does. Her passion is truly, truly field hockey, and Lehigh is so lucky to have her.
“Marissa’s game sense and athleticism are beyond comparison. She is not only a great player, but she makes others around her great. She’s a natural scorer, but she cares more about the team than her own individual performance. Marissa leaves it all on the field. In this day and age, a lot of players think they leave it on the field, but the thing about Marissa is - she does. She’s coachable and wants to learn. She’s willing to try things and change things, and she has a maturity about the game you can’t teach. Not only is Marissa a great athlete, she’s a great person. I’m going to miss her tremendously, and I wish we had more Marissa Glatts on the field hockey team.”
