On Thursday, May 18, 2023, Hatboro-Horsham senior Leah Harrington was recognized for committing to continue her basketball career at Gwynedd Mercy University.

Leah Harrington – Gwynedd Mercy University (Basketball)

Major: Finance

Final list of colleges: Gwynedd Mercy, Immaculata, Ursinus

Reasons for choosing Gwynedd: “I just loved the campus, and I loved the coach and how much he wanted me to go there and be a part of his team.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “Always since I was a little girl I wanted to play in college, but I wasn’t really sure when I got older. With the help of my coaches – coach Taylor, coach Eric, they really pushed me into believing I could do it in college. I wanted to keep playing.”

Coach Eric Glemser says: “Leah has been playing AAU since she was nine or 10 years old, so she was our most experienced player. She was always the first one out on the court to practice and always the last one to go. She was always giving advice to the younger players on the court as well as communicating with me in terms of what she saw out there. I’ve known Leah for a long time. I taught her in elementary school, so we had a prior relationship. Sometimes we would talk, and sometimes it wasn’t a good conversation, but she handled criticism well and tried to do what I told her to do. All around, she was probably by far the best basketball IQ player I had on my team. I felt like she never shot enough – she’s very unselfish, but I wanted her to be more selfish. I didn’t have a point guard for six games last winter, and she had to bring the ball up the floor. People would double team her and pressure her, but she handled it. I thought she handled it pretty well. I think she’ll be a good fit at Gwynedd Mercy.”
