Hatboro-Horsham's Jones Playing Volleyball at Siena

On Thursday, May 18, 2023, Hatboro-Horsham senior Kayla Jones was recognized for committing to continue her volleyball career at Siena University.

Kayla Jones – Siena College (Volleyball)

Major: Health Sciences

Final list of colleges: Siena, University of Rhode Island

Reasons for choosing Siena: “Just the community they have and the competitiveness of the program, and the balance and opportunities I have athletically and academically.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level? “I didn’t think I would play in college at first, and then I started going for it, staying in the gym long. I had the mentality – first one in and last one out. I was like – I may as well reach as high as I can, and I ended up D1.”

Coach Jon Young says:  On the athletic front, Kayla stands out due to a remarkable blend of competitiveness, work ethic, and resilience. Her growth over the past four years has been nothing short of remarkable, propelling her to become a commanding presence in her sport. Notably, she has earned prestigious accolades like team MVP, 1st Team All-League, and 2nd Team All-District during her senior year, with a string of accomplishments preceding those. What's even more remarkable about Kayla is that she still holds tremendous untapped potential, and we eagerly anticipate its unfolding as she embarks on her journey at Sienna.
“As an individual, she truly exemplifies excellence. While challenges have crossed her path over the years, she has navigated them with grace, emerging stronger each time. This has shaped her into a student-athlete who adeptly balances her talents and priorities both on and off the court. Adding to this, her character stands unparalleled – a shining embodiment of what HHVB's program values. Over time, she evolved into a cornerstone of this program, defined not solely by her abilities but by who she is as a person.
“Her absence will undoubtedly be deeply felt, yet our excitement knows no bounds as we anticipate her multifaceted growth on and off the court during her tenure at Sienna.”
