Nicole Neborg – Saint Francis University (Track & Field)

Major:  Occupational Therapy

Final list of colleges:  St. Francis, Delaware, Pitt, Alvernia, Misericordia, Messiah

Reasons for choosing Saint Francis:  “Overall, they have a really good occupational therapy program with an over 90 percent passing rate. I really enjoyed the team and the coach. (The coach’s) priority is God, track and family, and I just feel that’s where my home should be. Of all the colleges I visited, I felt the most comfortable there.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “I used to be a soccer player, and I realized I wasn’t reaching my goals, and I wanted to try something new. I decided I wanted to be a fulltime runner, and I wanted to get better. This year I decided to run cross country, and from there, I really opened up to running, and I like it now.”

Coach Anna Baker says:  “Nicole was a member of our state team for the DMR last indoor. She was a district qualifier and finalist in the mile last outdoor season, and she also was a first team all-league member of our cross country team. It was the first year she came out and stepped in as a solid member of our varsity.

“I’m very proud of Nicole and all the accomplishments she’s had with both the track team and cross country this past year. It’s definitely been a challenging one towards the end, but it’s about the journey – what you learn from it, what you take from it, and she’s a hard working, dedicated athlete and student, and I know that’s going to go a long way. I can’t wait to hear about all of her accomplishments.
“She had (an injury) in her foot and didn’t get to compete. Not only was it heartbreaking for her, it was heartbreaking for me knowing how much work she put in and how much she deserved to get back. She’s always putting 100 percent, and sometimes I’m telling her to slow down, but that’s her heart and her passion. It held her back this season, but it won’t hold her back again. I can’t wait to see everything she’s going to accomplish.”
