Jenn Horner – Bucknell University (Track)

Major: Undecided but possibly Business

Final list of schools:  Bucknell, Duquesne, Boston University

Reasons for choosing Bucknell:  “It’s a great school, it’s a beautiful campus, and the people are really nice. They stress academics over athletics, which I liked because I don’t want my sport to be my career.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level:  “I would say about my freshman year I decided I wanted to run in college. I also used to swim, and I had to decide which sport to do in high school. I decided to do track. When I was a freshman, there was a senior who was going to be running at Temple, and she was my inspiration. I was like, ‘If she can do it, I can do it.’”

Coach Rachel Beck says:  “What separates Jenn from even the athletes in the school is her absolute dedication. She dedicates herself to cross country and winter and spring track, so it’s three different seasons. She sets an example for not just her teammates but for the rest of the school. She’s a leader, but she’s not just a leader. She’s also caring, she has compassion for others, and she’s humble.”
