Jeff Ledford – Widener University (Football)

Major:   Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Widener, Salve Regina

Reasons for choosing Widener:  “It was close to home, and they’re a better football team. They went 10-0 last year.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football:  “When I was younger, I thought I would go pro, but don’t we all. Then my freshman year I almost quit football, but I decided to come back and play as a sophomore. I started for the varsity as a sophomore, and I realized it was definitely a possibility to play in college. I was looking at D-2 all the way until the middle of this year, and I was like, ‘I’ll see more playing time as a D-3 football player.’ It’s been an all-the-time thing. I’ve always wanted to play in college.”

Coach Biz Keeny says:  “Jeff is very athletic, and he’s a gifted kid. He played three years. He got thrown into a tough situation at the end of the year where we had to move him to quarterback. He’s a very solid two-way player.
“I think he should go into college as a wideout, but he can step on the other side and play safety. That’s the nice thing about having a guy like that. Oftentimes you have two-way players in high school, but they’re significantly better on one side of the ball than the other. I can’t say that about Jeff. I think Jeff can go to the college level and play either side.”
