Paige McDowell – La Salle University (Soccer)

Major:  Elementary Education

Final list of colleges:  La Salle, Hartford, St. Joseph’s

Reasons for choosing La Salle:  “Just the girls on the team – they’re such a close-knit group of girls. I know people who are going there, but it was pretty much the girls and the coaches. The coaches were really nice, and everyone was so loving and caring when I came in.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate soccer?  “I started thinking about it at a young age because you always have those older girls on your club team, and you watch them go away to college. That was always a big thing to try to get to a D-1 school and be able to make it far. You start looking at schools your freshman year, but my sophomore year was the big time. When junior year hit, that’s when college coaches came to watch, and that was when I verbally committed.”

Assistant varsity coach Nick Heim says:  “I have had the pleasure of coaching Paige for four years, and she’s by far the toughest, most determined player I have seen. She’s a three-time first team all-league, and she’s a three-time Golden Team selection. She was recently named the number five recruit in her class for the state of Pennsylvania. The accolades go on and on. She’s scored over 50 goals in her career, which lands her second all-time men or women in Council Rock South history despite actually being a true defender, which is what she’ll probably play in college. As a staff, we really can’t say enough about what Paige has done for our program. She’s been a leader since the moment she stepped on the field as a freshman, and she’s someone that every girl in the program looks up to. We really couldn’t pick a better representation of Council Rock South to go on to the next level. She’s heading for a top 25 program, and I’m really excited for her.”
