Brooks Melvin – Lynchburg College (Lacrosse)

Major:  Sports Marketing

Final list of colleges:  Lynchburg, Cortland, Wagner
Reasons for choosing Lynchburg:  “I visited a lot of schools my junior year. I was kind of bouncing between different schools, and none of them really worked out. I visited Wagner first, and then I visited Lynchburg. When I visited Lynchburg, I fell in love with it. I really liked the coaches, and the head coach really drew me to the school.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse?  “I started playing lacrosse in second grade, and basically, ever since I started playing, I was like, ‘I’ve got to play in college.’ I’m a laxer. I always play lacrosse. I’ve been playing lacrosse year round since sixth grade, and I wasn’t going to stop any time soon. In college, I’ll be playing, and then when I graduate, I’ll play in men’s leagues. I’m never going to stop. Hopefully, I’ll coach someday. I love lacrosse.”

Coach Tom Walsh says:  “Brooks is always going 100 miles an hour, always giving it his all. On the field and off the field, it helps when two of your best players (Melvin and Luke Gomez) are also your hardest workers. That always helps to build the team around those guys.”
