Andy Moser – University of Maine (Baseball)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Maine, Villanova, NJIT, Bloomsburg

Reasons for choosing Maine:  “Beautiful campus, great community, college town, friendly atmosphere, teammates were very nice, top notch state of the art facilities (indoor practice bubble, field house attached to locker rooms with hitting facilities and multiple indoor dirt pitching mounds, new $20 million athlete gym), lots of traveling to Florida, play schools like Miami, Clemson and Auburn in non-league games and schools like Stony Brook in league play, coaches were very nice and knowledgeable, catching coach played in the Cardinals organization (Triple A for four years), good school.”

What was the progression that led you to playing baseball at the collegiate level?  “I always knew I wanted to play competitive college baseball from a young age (12 or 13) because of my love of the sport. Recruiting process started after my freshman year of high school (summer). I did various camps and received interest from many schools.”

Coach Harry Daut says:  “He was the starting catcher for the high school team since ninth grade, and he’s just been an extremely hard worker. He outworks everybody. He was an extremely hard worker all four of his years at Bensalem.
“As a catcher, he concentrates on every single pitch. He’s just dedicated to the catching position, and that’s what got him this scholarship to play Division One. A lot of kids take offensive hitting seriously, but Andy really took to becoming a defensive player.
“He’s a great kid, one of the nicest kids I’ve ever coached, and he has a great family, a very supportive family. He’s receptive to everything and very, very, very coachable.”
