Neshaminy's Zukowski Commits to Run at Duquesne

Neshaminy senior Alyssa Zukowski committed to compete in track at Duquesne University.

Alyssa Zukowski – Duquesne University (Track)

Major:  Marketing and Spanish

Final list of colleges:  Duquesne, Penn State-Berks, Indiana University-Bloomington, Temple University.

Reasons for choosing Duquesne:  “It’s an amazing university in an amazing city where I can do what I love – run.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “I felt the collegiate option was always on the table ever since middle school, but, of course, I was focused on soccer at the time. Track taught me what love for a sport really was, so that’s when I quit soccer my sophomore year and pursued track. My junior year I caught the college bug, and I reached out to all the colleges that really appealed to me, and sure enough, I got to where I am today.”

Coach Margie Stefan says:  “Alyssa was winter and spring track captain her senior year. When she first came out for the track team, her main sport was soccer (she always brought a soccer ball to practice). However, after finding a love for hurdles/sprints, she worked hard and in no time was a state hurdler. She broke the school record in the 60m indoor and 100m hurdles outdoor both her junior and senior years and was a member of the district 4x100 relay. Alyssa always took the younger hurdlers on the team under her wing, and they looked up to her. She was very coachable and always had a desire to improve. We wish her good luck in college and her future!”
