Coach Jami Wilus Behm says:  “This has been a long journey for Kaitlin, Ashley and Gabby. They all came up to play as ninth graders, and they stuck with the program. They’re very dedicated athletes. They all bring something different to the table. Both Ashley and Gabby are defenders, and Kaitlin is more of a scorer, but the three of them combined are extremely strong players and individuals. They’re definitely role models, not only in the classroom but also on the athletic field.”

Gabby DiDomizio – Iona University (Lacrosse)
Final list of colleges:
Iona, Temple UConn, Vermont
Major:  Biology/Pre-Med to become a Physician’s Assistant

Reasons for choosing Iona:  “There are a lot of reasons why you choose a school. Obviously, first was academics, but sports was what really what sold it for me too. It’s located in New York. It’s not really in the city, but being the fact that it has both city life and suburban life, I felt comfortable. It’s the perfect size for me, and I think I will fit in really well there.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse?  “I decided I wanted to play at the collegiate level the beginning of ninth grade.  Just for the love of the sport. I really want to play in college. I felt it would connect me more to the college and I’d get to know more people. I always felt like playing for a college was the coolest thing ever. Division One is really competitive, and I like competitive sports. I wanted to carry that on to college.”
Coach Jami Wilus Behm says:  “Gabby is out with a torn ACL, but she was a second team all-league defender last year, and she was our best defender. She’s a vocal leader on the defensive end.  She was a ground ball machine and came up with a lot of draw controls. We definitely miss her this year on defense. She’s just tenacious and not really afraid of anything.”

Ashley Durham Old Dominion University (Lacrosse)
Major:
Criminal Justice
Final list of colleges:  ODU, Ohio State, Temple, Cincinnati, Bryant
Reasons for choosing ODU:  “I chose Old Dominion because it was the perfect fit for me. The school is very good academically, and the lacrosse is amazing. When I when I went for my official visit, I fit in perfectly. I just loved it.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse?  “I didn’t really start thinking about it until 11th grade. It wasn’t really something I ever thought I would have a chance to do. Coaches told me I was actually good enough, so it was like, ‘Okay, I might as well.’”
Coach Jami Wilus Behm says:  “Ashley is a tough defender. She’s a lefty, so she can put some goals in on the offensive end. Last year we used her more as middie. This year she’s primarily a defender, and she’s our leader on defense.”

Kaitlin Suzuki - Temple University (Lacrosse)
Final list of colleges:
Temple, American, Massachusetts, Philadelphia University, George Mason
Major:  Elementary Education/Special Education
Reasons for choosing Temple:  “I chose Temple because, one, it was so close to home. I didn’t think I would like the city, but when I got there, I fell in love with it. They have both the programs that I was looking into. I loved the lacrosse program. The coaches are great coaches and amazing people, and I really can’t wait to play with them. Some of my former teammates from here are there, and I can’t wait to play with them.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse?  “In ninth grade, coach Wilus asked if I wanted to play in college, and I thought, ‘No way’ and kind of laughed, but here we are today. I’m still surprised and so happy.”

Coach Jami Wilus Behm says:  “Kaitlin is just a leader. She’s been a leader on our attacking end. When she played last season, she was our leading scorer and really just commanded the ball. We’re glad to have her back because of her leadership. She kind of has a calming presence on the field too. She gets things done, and her teammates really respect her.
“We talk to these girls a lot about practicing on their own. Kaitlin is the type of player who will go out on the turf and grab a bucket of balls, and she’ll just continue to shoot, shoot, shoot until her arms are sore. You rarely see kids do that anymore. Five, six years ago, players would be on the turf when you weren’t watching all the time.”
