Reasons for choosing Penn State: “The reason I chose Penn State is because I’ve always been a fan of Penn State growing up. When I visited there, I really liked the campus and the team, and I just thought it was a perfect fit.”
What was the progression that led you to swimming at the collegiate level? “I realized in eighth grade. I went to my first big swim meet, and from there, I started looking around at colleges and realized it could actually be a reality. It kind of got me excited, and it just took off from there.”
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from playing sports? “I think I’ve learned a lot about teamwork. With swimming especially, we spend a lot of time together – it’s 30 hours a week most weeks, so you really get to know the people around you, and you get close to everyone, which I thought was really important.”
Coach Jeff Faikish says: “I’ve known Aidan since the time he was knee high. He’s a wonderful student-athlete. Again, the phrase you hear is ambassador. He was a representative of the North Penn Aquatic Club and this community in Texas with our club swimming program as a result of how wonderful a person and representative he is of this community. He was the coach’s award winner two years in a row. He has a wonderful knowledge of the sport and someone who made me a better coach because of his knowledge. At times when you’re going through the season, you think everything is going the way you have it planned out. I would rely on Aidan to have conversations once in a while to help steer me back on the right track. He’s sorely going to be missed next year. He’s got a wonderful, bright future ahead of him.”
