David Giuliani – Merrimack College (Basketball)

Major:  Health Sciences

Final list of colleges:  Merrimack, University of the Sciences, West Chester, Salisbury

Reasons for choosing Merrimack:  “I chose Merrimack because it’s 20 minutes outside of Boston, which is a great city. It has great academics, and it has a really good basketball team that is part of a really good league.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level?  “I was back and forth the entire beginning of this year whether or not I wanted to play in college or just go to one of the state schools and be with all of my friends, but I decided to play.
“Basketball kind of keeps you in check with the grades and everything like that. It’s good to be part of the team and have those people always there to support you. It was kind of a simple decision for me to end up wanting to play basketball.”

Coach John Conrad says:  “David brought a toughness and winning attitude to our team.  He was a match-up problem for opposing teams. His size and strength allowed him to dominate inside if you played him with a smaller defender, but he could also play on the perimeter, facing the rim if you matched up with a bigger body.  He has good feet and good hands.  He was a ferocious rebounder, especially on the offensive end. In a complimentary way, one of the opposing coaches said about David "I love that kid... he's tough and he plays angry." He led our team in scoring and rebounding this year.”
