Katelyn Harkrader – Duquesne University (Swimming)

Major:  Nursing

Final list of colleges:  Duquesne, Delaware, West Chester, University of Tampa

Reasons for choosing Duquesne:  “I chose Duquesne because of their competitive swim team and really good nursing program.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in swimming at the collegiate level?  “I’ve been swimming since I was eight years old. I’ve always loved the sport and knew I wanted to continue it after high school.”

Coach Jeff Faikish says:  “Katelyn is awesome. The one thing that separated her from the rest of the team was her perseverance and dedication to the team in the face of adversity. Coming into this season, she was a state qualifier earlier in her career, and she wasn’t sure where she was going to fit on the team, but at no point in time did she give up on herself, which is a huge characteristic trait. She always has a smile on her face, she comes in and does everything you ever asked, and she’s going to be greatly missed. I had a conversation with Dave Sheets, the head coach at Duquesne, and he is very excited to have her come out and be a part of the program, so I wish her the best of luck at Duquesne.”
