Chris Parrillo – DeSales University (Baseball)

Major: Sports & Exercise Physiology

Final list of colleges: DeSales, Ursinus, Muhlenberg, Centenary

Reasons for choosing DeSales: “The baseball program”

What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level?  “I played summer tournament baseball for the Avengers and Pride of the Diamond. Some of our tournaments were showcases in which scouts and coaches showed interest in me playing for that school.”

Coach Jon Pallone says: “One of the first things that comes to mind about Chris is how many times this year I’ve had other teachers in the building come up to me and say, ‘Oh, Chris, is one of your baseball players – he’s such a good guy.’ He’s a hard worker in the classroom. I was just speaking with a teacher in the hallway with Chris, and they were talking about hard he was working and constantly improving, and that’s such a strong character trait for a student-athlete to have in the classroom and on the field as well.
“Chris is going to DeSales University, which is my alma mater. He is a tall, lanky right-handed pitcher who throws a heavy ball with some downward movement on it, which is difficult to hit. A highlight from this season was when we got to play at DeSales University under the lights, and he got to pitch against New Hope-Solebury on his future home mound. One of my favorite memories of Chris was his sophomore year when he came up against Wissahickon and threw an inning and a third, striking out three of the six hitters he faced. Another memory would be senior day when he went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a stolen base. We had a pretty good season this year, and a lot of it came from the character of the guys we had on the team. Chris is one of the guys – he’s a constant supporter of his teammates. He sees success in his team’s success. He’s not a ‘me’ guy, he’s a ‘we’ guy, and we’re going to miss that this year.”
