Melissa Herd – Saint Joseph’s University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Primary Education Pre-K-4 and Special Education K-8
Reasons for choosing St. Joe’s:  “Choosing St. Joe’s was not easy, especially when you are given a lot of options from D1 coaches that want a decision by March of your junior year. I have been to many college campuses and talked to many coaches throughout my sophomore and junior years, but when it was time to go visit St. Joe’s, I was excited. As soon as I took the tour, I fell head over heels for the school. The campus is gorgeous, and I could imagine myself being there in the next year and a half, and it could not have made me happier. The longer I stayed the more comfortable I was there.
“I love the coaching staff they have there; they made me feel welcome and comfortable and were extremely nice. The team was really nice as well, and I felt as if I fit in with them. They seemed to have a lot of fun together and got along very well. I also got to have an unofficial visit at St. Joe’s, which gave me the opportunity to meet my future teammates and create a connection with them. Everything just seemed to be perfect, and I cannot wait to attend St. Joe’s in the fall.”
Coach Becky Spahr says:  “Melissa has an enormous field hockey resume.  She started to play at a young age and has taken advantage of every opportunity to develop into an amazing hockey player.  This experience has led to great field vision, confident ball handing skills and the ability to put the ball in the cage.  This past season Melissa was our keystone player, helping link our defense and offense.  Her love for field hockey is not only evident in her play but also in her team leadership.  Melissa loves making her team better.  She is always willing to help her teammates learn new skills, practice the basics or encourage in any way she can.  I am excited that Melissa chose a local Philly school so we can enjoy watching her develop into a great college athlete.”

Addison Marshall – Central Michigan University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Business/Marketing
Reasons for choosing Central Michigan:  “I got along with the team, coaches and the other recruits. Also, the campus was everything I wanted.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “Making varsity freshman year and then joining a club team.”
Coach Becky Spahr says:  “Central Michigan is incredibly lucky to sign Addison.  She is one of the most talented midfielders/forwards in the SOL but is still trying to develop and work on building her game.  Addy's sticks skills and natural quickness are built for the speed of college hockey game, and she will excel at the next level.  Addy has worked hard this summer to develop her fitness level, so she can immediately impact her new team.  Along with great field hockey ability Addison has also been a joy to coach because of her great attitude and work ethic.”

Kelly Wolff – West Chester University (Field Hockey)
Major:

Reasons for choosing West Chester:  “I loved the campus and how they have a small, cute town. It was everything I was looking for. I also loved the field hockey team, which was a big thing I was looking at. It is just all around a perfect school.
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I have been playing for six years and did not want to stop playing. I have also been playing all over on my travel team that led me to be seen by colleges. I have been dedicated to reaching my very first goal to play at the college level.”
Coach Becky Spahr says:  “Kelly is a determined hockey player, and you can always count on her to give 100 percent.  Kelly's passion is evident at every practice and game.  This tenacity makes her an amazing defender.  I enjoy watching Kelly play as she lets her emotion and love for hockey and her team show with every play.  She has grown as a player and person over her four years at Pennridge, and I know that she will continue to develop as she heads West Chester.
“I want to wish all our Pennridge girls good luck at the college level.  Don't forget us when you are NCAA superstars!”
