Audrey Butcher – Fairleigh Dickinson University – Metropolitan Campus (Soccer)
Major:
Undecided
Reasons for choosing Fairleigh Dickinson:  “I wanted to play at a high level that would challenge me and that would reward me for my academics as well.”
What was the progression that led you to playing soccer at the collegiate level?  “I’ve been playing soccer since I was five and at a high level when I started travel in ninth grade and went to play at FC Bucks in the Elite Clubs National League where we went to huge college showcases. Although I tore my ACL in the spring of my sophomore year, I came back six months later still aiming to play in college.”
Coach Audrey Anderson says:  “Audrey started out for us as a center mid, and after an injury, I had to move her to center back. She couldn’t play her junior year because of a torn ACL, so this year it meant so much for her to do whatever she needed to do to get us where we needed to go. What a selfless player and team player. She is such a strong team player, and for her to move to the back and be such a huge presence on the field for us, that was really the difference. Nobody could take shots on us with her back there. She’s such a smart player.”

Favorite food:

Julia Rufe – La Salle University (Soccer)
Major:
Marketing
Reasons for choosing La Salle:  “It is a great fit for me in both athletics and academics.”
What was the progression that led you to playing soccer at the collegiate level?  “Ever since I started playing the sport, I knew I wanted to take my talents to the highest level I possibly could. La Salle will be a great place for me to showcase my talent.”
Coach Audrey Anderson says:  “Julia was out with an ACL injury her junior year. She played center back for us, and the biggest thing that stands out about her is when she receives a ball in the air out of the back and is able to carry it down the field and take shots. Her corner kicks were amazing. I think we finished six of her corners, and that could be low. Most of our goals were from set pieces, so that was huge having her. Both Julia and Audrey are going to be hard to replace next year, maybe impossible.”

Lindsay Sheehan – Shippensburg University (Soccer/Track & Field)
Major:
Pre-Physical Therapy
Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “I chose Shippensburg for their incredible academic standards. They have an amazing premed-physical therapy program, which I thought would be a great starting point for my undergraduate degree. Afterward, I will be going for my doctorate. I enjoyed the campus size and classrooms and resources offered. Both sports teams fit into my liking as well.”
What was the progression that led you to compete in two sports at the collegiate level?  “I have played soccer most of my life. All throughout my school career, athletics have always helped me get through my academics, and I just could not part with the sport. I have so much passion for it. I wasn’t ready to end it.
“I only began track in middle school (seventh grade) but was quickly told I have a talent for sprinting (the 200m and 400m). When it came time to choose college and a sport, I had no desire to choose either sport over the other. I was offered a spot on Shippensburg’s soccer team and money to run track, an opportunity that does not come around that often. I’ve always dreamed of being a college athlete.”
Soccer coach Audrey Anderson says:  “Lindsay is super fast. No one can defend her because she’s so fast when you get the ball to her. She blows past people. Coaches always talk about her - they don’t know how to defend her. She’s like that triple threat – she’s fast, has a shot and is a smart player. She’ll be going to the same college as her sister, so that’s exciting.”
Track coach Bill Smith says:  “Obviously, she’s a very talented individual that she can excel in multiple sports. She does an outstanding job for us running-wise – both sprinting and through the long sprints. She’s very, very competitive. We expect a big spring from her, and I know she will do quite well at Shippensburg.”
About Lindsay:
Favorite food:
Buffalo chicken anything
Favorite movie:  Anything SciFi.
Favorite video game:  Borderlands 2
Favorite music:  “I don’t have a favorite genre. My favorite artist is Avril Lavigne.”
