Reilly Dolan – Wagner College (Water Polo)

Major:  Art Management

Final list of colleges:  Wagner, Temple, West Chester

Reasons for choosing Wagner:  “Wagner is a great school that offers everything I want and need – location, internships, student-to-professor ratio and a water polo program. Everything worked out in the end.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in water polo at the collegiate level?  “I wasn’t really planning on playing polo in college, but around a year ago, the opportunity presented itself, and I decided that it would probably be the best thing for me.”

Coach Ken Vincent says:  “I first met Reilly when he was in eighth grade and showed an interest in water polo. He had been involved in aquatics through a summer program, and he wanted to play something more competitive. Some of his friends got involved in water polo, so Reilly decided to try it.
“When I first met Reilly, I realized he had exceptional talent, but more so what he had was he had an exceptional spirit. Throughout the last four years of coaching him in high school, his spirit and his talent has shown through as well as his leadership that he has displayed towards the younger players and towards his cohorts as well.
“Reilly is a very mature young man, mature beyond his years, and he makes decisions based on what is best for everyone around him and not just himself. I think that has shown through in both his competition and in his pursuit of a college. It has resulted in people at colleges – including Wagner – noticing him and recruiting him to their school. I saw the Wagner coach in August, and he asked me who this guy was playing water polo, and I told him. He said, ‘I want him,’ and from that point on, I think Wagner had their eyes set on Reilly, and I believe he’s going to really be a great addition to their program at Wagner both from the athletic standpoint and also from the standpoint that he is going to be that cohesive force that holds that team together as he matures through his college years.”
