Pennridge's Machado to Play Lacrosse at Ursinus

On Thursday, May 23, 2019, Pennridge senior Alexa Machado was recognized for committing to continue her lacrosse career at Ursinus College. Check back for photos of the event.

Alexa Machado – Ursinus College (Lacrosse)

Major:  Biology

Reasons for choosing Ursinus:  “The biology program is amazing, and the coaching staff was very nice.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “Playing club lacrosse and high school lacrosse.”

Coach Karen Schnurr says:  “Alexa Machado has been our starting varsity goalie for four years. She is a solid force on the defensive end. When she came in freshman year, she walked right on the field, and I knew right then and there she would be a starter. For the past four years, I’ve watched her grow and develop not only as a player but as a leader on the team. She’s not afraid to use her voice and vocally express when things need to be changed.
“Alexa was a leader not only on the field but off the field. At any activity or community service work that we do, she’s always the first one there and the last one to leave. She really has invested in this program. Whether it’s a team bonding activity, community service work or cleaning up the locker room, she is your girl that’s always there.  As I always say, she’s the captain, and she needs to lead our ship, and she really has the past four years. Her presence in the net will be greatly missed, but I know she’s going to do so well at Ursinus.”
