On Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, Pennridge senior Payton Muth was recognized for committing to continue her field hockey career at West Chester University.

Major: Media journalism with a minor in communications
Final list of colleges: West Chester, Temple, Lock Haven, Virginia Commonwealth
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “I like the competitive league they are in (PSAC), and I loved the coach and the team. It felt like the right fit.”
Coach Becky Spahr says: “Payton got better every season for us, which was really cool to see. Especially her senior year – she used her offseason really well and made sure she improved skill-wise and also leadership-wise. She was our captain this year, and she did a great job for our team and really helped elevate our level of play.
“She has a nose for the goal and finished her career with 118 points. She’s always prioritized that, but this year she said, ‘This has to be my job. I’m going to be the one that finishes.’ She was always great in front of the net with rebounds and tip-ins, but this year she scored a lot from the top of the circle. She changed her approach, and she did a really good job for us.”
