Hnyla Sloan – Utica College (Water Polo)

Major:  Biology or Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Final list of colleges:  Utica, Penn State-Behrend, Connecituct College, University of Tampa

Reasons for choosing Utica:  “I liked the people and the campus size was good, and I really wanted to play water polo.”

What was the progression that led you to playing water polo at the collegiate level?  “When I first started playing water polo and I really fell in love with the sport, I knew I wanted to play in college. I started contacting schools, and some of the coaches started coming to my tournaments to watch me play.”

Coach Ryan Griffiths says:  “Hnyla has been a phenomenal contributor to our team over the past four seasons. Over the past two years Hnyla has become a serious offensive threat from the perimeter with a quick release and shot. On the defensive side of the ball, Hnyla plays a smart pressing game that limits the abilities of the offensive player she is guarding.
“In choosing Utica, Hnyla is a great fit for their team philosophy and can contribute immediately to their team.  We are Pennridge proud of her in her decision to continue her water polo career at the college level. Hnyla will succeed in all that she chooses to do.”
