Jessica Supp – Bloomsburg University (Soccer)

Major:  Nursing

Final list of colleges:  Bloomsburg, Liberty, Messiah

Reasons for choosing Bloomsburg:  “When I visited, the coach was so nice and just seemed like the kind of coach I wanted to play for. I really liked the whole coaching staff in general, and I really liked the girls on the team. They seemed super close. The school in general – they have a great nursing program, and that’s what I’m planning on majoring in, so that was a big selling point. Being two hours away, it’s close enough that I can come home but not too close. Everything about it I really liked. It’s a beautiful campus, so I’m really excited.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate soccer?  “I’ve been going to college showcases for a while. One weekend I decided to go to an ID clinic at Bloomsburg. I wasn’t really thinking I was going to go there, but I ended up doing really well. (The coach) came and saw me in some tournaments, and she offered me a spot on the team, and I accepted it.”

Coach Audrey Anderson says:  “When I look back at her career at Pennridge – and I say career because that’s what she made it, she started out as a jayvee player, and every year she made goals for herself. Each year she was able to tackle that goal. I look at where she was as a ninth grader and where she finished up in her senior year. As a coach, that’s what you want to see from your players. You want to see that growth on and off the field. She was a leader all four years, whether she wanted to believe that or not. She didn’t have the title of captain until she was a senior, but people looked at her because she was such a good kid. She was there for everyone. She included everybody, and that’s how she was on the field as well. If people were struggling on the field, she was there to build them up and kind of take care of them.
“She was tall, and she played in such a big way. When she didn’t play against Quakertown in our last game, there was a big presence missing from the field. It’s because she plays with so much heart and intensity, and that’s what really makes her special – her ability to play four years with the same drive as she did in the beginning. There are setbacks every year, and for her to be able to keep going, keep her eye on that long-term goal and not slow down, that’s really what makes her stand out. Out of all of her years here, that’s how I’ll remember her - as that kid that just would not quit, never gave up, and she was just there for everyone.”
