Mike Alley – West Chester University (Football)
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: West Chester, Lehigh, Bucknell, Monmouth, Ithaca
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “I loved the coaches at West Chester, and I thought it would be a great fit for me. The coaches helped me out a lot – they brought me in, and the guys on the team took me right under their wing. They showed me the ropes as soon as I got up there. I think I’ll have a great career up there athletically as well as academically.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “I’ve been playing football since I was four years old, and it’s every little kid’s dream to be putting on a professional uniform and playing at a big D-1 school. As I got older and played in high school and played in a great program for a great coach like coach Snyder here at Pennsbury, you establish relationships and make a bunch of brothers out there on the field. It hits home when you realize all the hard work you’ve done all your life finally is paying off to go to a great school like West Chester to continue your athletic career.”
Coach Galen Snyder says: “Mike has been a great leader for us the last two years. He’s a big, strong kid, and he really throws the ball well. He has all the ingredients you want as a quarterback. Mike rushed for over a thousand yards and he threw for almost 900. He had 13 rushing touchdowns and 13 passing touchdowns. Twenty-six touchdowns out of your quarterback is pretty good production. He only had five turnovers – two turnovers and three interceptions, and two of the interceptions were at the end of games where he threw it in the end zone. Twenty-six touchdowns to a five-turnover ratio is pretty good.”
About Mike:
Favorite food: “I like everything.”
Favorite movie: Remember the Titans
Favorite music: Pre-game Music
Luke Snyder – Kutztown University (Football)
Major: Criminal Justice
Final list of colleges: Kutztown, Shippensburg, West Chester
Reasons for choosing Kutztown: “Kutztown was always where I wanted to go. I just feel like it’s my style. It’s hard to explain, but it’s my style of play - the guys around there are hard hitters, they’re gritty, and I like that. That’s why I’m really interested in the football program over there.
“Academic-wise, they said that they’ll be on me. I’ll have freedom like everyone does, but it’s kind of cool to know they’ll be on you a little bit.”
What was the progression that led you to playing football at the collegiate level? “Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play in college because it’s tough. Football is tough in high school, and it’s tough to get to the next level. I just love football, I stuck with it, and I’m really glad I made this decision to play in college. I think it will really benefit me.”
Coach Galen Snyder says: “Luke played a very valuable role on our team on both sides of the ball. He was our leading tackler for two years, and he did a great job blocking and even catching the ball out of the backfield for us. He’s a good athlete, and he has tenacity. He’s a physical player.”
About Luke:
Favorite food: Pizza
Favorite drink: Mountain Dew
Favorite movie: Step Brothers
