Mia Doran – Asbury University (Lacrosse)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Asbury, Messiah

Reasons for choosing Asbury:  “I went to visit Asbury a couple of times, and I really liked it when I went for an overnight and I stayed with some players. I went to a practice and a team dinner, and I really got to know the girls. I felt like we really clicked on the field and off the field, and I really love the coach – she’s awesome. I really felt as though that’s where I wanted to go and continue playing lacrosse.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I actually didn’t really know that I wanted to play in college until a year ago I started thinking about it – how I really love the sport. It was hard to think about not playing anymore. I started looking into it. I really looked into the schools first, and I decided I really liked Asbury. I really love the team and the program, so it all fell into place for me. It was really nice.”

Coach Shannon McPherson says:  “I’ve known Mia since she was in sixth grade. I was her middle school health and phys ed teacher. I’ve seen her grow as a person and as an athlete all throughout middle school and high school. I’ve just seen her self-esteem, her awareness of the field and just her knowledge of the game continue to grow as she goes on. She took on a lot of leadership and was definitely a voice on defense. She also made herself a presence on offense just to move the ball down the field even more. She’s such a great kid, and I’m so happy for her continuing to play. I know she’ll do well at the college level. She comes from a great family and she’s a great kid. She has a lot of hard work and dedication, and I know that will get her far in her college career.”
