Alyse Caffrey – Shippensburg University (Soccer)

Major:  Elementary Education

Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “Great location and education program. Also loved the soccer program.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “When I started playing travel for the Ukrainian Nationals in eighth grade and started to travel more for tournaments and it started to get more intense, I knew I didn’t want to stop playing after high school.”

Coach Ryan Zehren says:  “Alyse was very dedicated to the program over the past four years. I only got to coach her in three of the four years. I didn’t take over the program until June going into her sophomore year, so I didn’t really know her at all, but as a sophomore, she was scoring goals almost every game. As a sophomore, putting up over 10 goals is pretty impressive and then doing the same thing her junior year and senior year.
“Alyse is very fast, and she gives herself so many opportunities to finish and puts herself in good situations to score goals. She works very hard – she plays club and plays all year round. She’s also a gamer, so when there’s a big game and it’s time to show up, she’s there, she’s ready to play, and she’s going to do everything she can to give her team an opportunity to win the game.”
