Plymouth Whitemarsh senior Kirsten Monte was recognized for signing a letter of intent to play lacrosse at Wagner College.

Kirsten Monte – Wagner College (Lacrosse)

Major:  Elementary Education

Final list of colleges:  Wagner, Monmouth, St. Joe’s

Reasons for choosing Wagner:  “Academically, Wagner has a great education program. Athletically, the coaches and players were beyond welcoming, and the school is close enough for my friends and family to attend games.”

What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I started playing in third grade, and once I saw my sister playing in college, I realized I wanted to do the same. She inspired me.”

Coach Ellen Reilly says:  “Kirsten loves lacrosse, and it shows through her commitment and dedication. She is always doing something to better her game, whether it is stickwork on the wall or running to improve her speed and endurance. She plays midfield for PW. On attack, she is aggressive to the cage and leads our team in goals. She also is great in transition and defense. She will step up to the ball and play aggressive one-on-one defense. Nothing fazes her. She will mark the strongest opponent and do her best to deny that player.”
