Rita Lynn Trainer – Chestnut Hill College (Lacrosse)

Major:  Early Childhood Education

Final list of colleges:  Chestnut Hill, King’s, Gwynedd Mercy

Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill:  “I had the opportunity to visit many colleges since my freshman year. Many of the schools gave me high hopes, but none fulfilled my needs like Chestnut Hill did. The coach and the girls on the team welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like I was a part of the team already. The location of the school is great because my family and I are familiar with the surroundings and the home turf. I’m glad that I will have the opportunity to be playing on familiar grounds but with a new team.”

What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I’ve been playing this game my whole life, and it’s always had a special place in my heart. It started out with the township team, Conshy Bulldogs, then to middle school, and from there, I found that if I did want to pursue collegiate level lacrosse I would have to try out for a club team. My family and I looked into the Aftershock Club team, and I played for them for five years. While playing summer tournaments for Aftershock, I found that my skills of the game were getting looked at by college coaches. I started the college recruiting process the spring of my sophomore year.”

PW coach Ellen Reilly says:  “Rita is a very hard worker. She is a team player who is very enthusiastic and a great leader. She encourages her teammates and pushes them to be their best. She has good field sense in transition. She knows when and how to position herself for midfield cuts. Rita has very good one-on-one moves to goal, and she can also feed the ball to her teammates.”

Chestnut Hill coach Chelsea Rosiek says:  “We are so excited to welcome Rita Lynn Trainer to our program. Rita has demonstrated excellent leadership, athleticism and versatility as a standout member and captain of both the field hockey and lacrosse programs at PWHS. We cannot wait to have her contribute to our program as a local talent. We also welcome her family who have been an outstanding supporter of our program.”
