Spenser Gray – University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Softball)
Major:
Psychology
Final list of colleges:  UNC Charlotte, Providence, Stony Brook, Maryland
Reasons for choosing UNC Charlotte:  “They stressed the fact that they’ve been trying to build the program the last couple of years, and I really like the idea of coming in and taking the program somewhere it hasn’t been before. Also, just the fact that it’s a beautiful campus was a bonus.”
What was the progression that led you to playing softball at the collegiate level?  “I always wanted to be a Division One softball player – that was my dream. I didn’t really know it was going to happen until I came to the travel team I’m currently on, which is Chaos, and they were able to get me the appropriate looks. Basically, the last two years is when I started looking at Division One schools.”
Coach Rich Scott says:  “Spenser has started since she was a freshman. She has great speed, she’s very hard working and dedicated. As a travel softball player, you have to get up early in the morning – sometimes four or five o’clock to be at the field by 6:30 or seven o’clock. It’s not the easiest thing in the world to do. Talk about dedication – it doesn’t get much more dedicated than that.
“Spenser and Meghan (Klee) are both shortstops, so it’s a tough situation sometimes. They’re both very gifted athletes. Spenser is very fast. If there’s another athlete in the school who’s faster, I would love to see her. Spenser has a great will to win. She’s a very, very dedicated player. I’m very excited for her to go to North Carolina-Charlotte. I’m very proud of her and very happy for her.”

Meghan Klee – Shippensburg University (Softball)
Major:
Elementary Education
Final list of colleges:  Shippensburg, Moravian, Mount St. Mary’s, Monmouth, Elizabethtown
Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “I love the coach – he’s a great guy, and the first time I went to Ship all the girls were so welcoming on the team. I was actually against Ship at first because my parents went there, and I wanted to make my own path. That was the only reason holding me back. I went there and realized Ship is awesome, and I can definitely make my own path even though they went there. I’m still going to have a different experience and be better off there.”
What was the progression that led you to playing softball at the collegiate level?  “Around freshman and sophomore year, that’s when my recruiting process started because you have to start early for softball. It just came from a love of the game and wanting to keep doing it and not wanting to stop.”
Coach Rich Scott says:  “Meghan Klee started since her sophomore year on the varsity team. She’s a very talented player – very strong arm, very dedicated and hard working. It’s the same situation as Spenser – playing travel she had to get up early in the morning to be at the field by 6:30 or seven o’clock, and you don’t just play one or two games. You play many games. Both of these athletes would not have gotten here without the hard work they put in every day.
“Meghan and Spenser also play other sports, and that shows their dedication. Our season has not started yet, but we’re very excited.”
