Nathaniel Barnes – Elizabethtown College (Baseball)

Major:  Environmental Engineering

Final list of colleges:  Elizabethtown, York, Shippensburg

Reasons for choosing Elizabethtown:  “I visited a lot of schools, but Elizabethtown had a good field, and their science department was really nice. They just bought a new science center, and I really liked that. In talking to the coach, it felt like a good fit for me.”

What was the progression that led you competing in baseball at the collegiate level?  “I started playing travel when I was 12, and that’s on the track to playing college baseball. It was always a goal of mine. My coach has always told me I was capable of doing it, and I just had to reach out. Here we are now.”

Coach Jon Pallone says:  “Nathaniel has always had a goal to play college baseball. His greatest strength on the field is his ability to come up with the big play, whether it be at bat or in the field. Last summer in legion, I had the pleasure of watching Nathaniel come up with game-winning hit after game-winning hit. This season he was an outstanding outfielder, both defensively and offensively. He won 1st Team All- League for the SOL American. Nathaniel is a strong student that I could count on in the classroom as well as on the field. He takes challenging classes and he does well in them because he embodies the term student-athlete. Whether in the classroom or on the field, Nathaniel has the ability to always have fun while maintaining his focus, making him a joy to be around. It’s been a pleasure to watch him grow and mature. I’m happy to see Nathaniel commit to Elizabethtown and I look forward to him achieving great things on and off the field.”
