Dan Grubb – Chestnut Hill College (Lacrosse)

Major:  Accounting/Criminal Justice

Final list of colleges:  Chestnut Hill, Georgian Court, Alderson-Broaddus, West Virginia, West Chester

Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill:  “A lot of it was the academics. It’s a small school, and I think the support they have for athletes is fantastic. Coach (Mike) Terranova is a great guy, and the guys there are really cool too.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I started playing lacrosse in elementary school for fourth and fifth grade – I was playing youth league. I moved on to middle school, and I was still playing youth league, but I also started playing club lacrosse. That’s where I got recruited.”

Coach Jay Donis says:  “I first met Dan last year as the jayvee coach. He’s obviously a good lacrosse player, and last year he was instrumental in helping Quakertown transition into its first year of varsity lacrosse. We’ve played programs that have been around for decades, and it’s not easy for the coaches or players doing that, and Dan made it much easier both on the field and off the field. Dan is a natural leader on the field, whether it’s playing defense or clearing the ball or taking the odd shot or two. Defenders don’t usually get a lot of glory. Dan is probably going to major in criminal justice, and he’s very interested in his rights both on the field – when he can hit people and when he cannot hit people – and his rights off the field. Chestnut Hill is getting a great student-athlete.”
