Jill Martin – DeSales University (Basketball)

Major:  Physician’s Assistant Program

Final list of colleges:  DeSales, Temple, Lock Haven, Duquesne

Reasons for choosing DeSales:  “Definitely the strength of their physician’s assistant program – it has a really strong name and is very well respected. Also, their basketball program – I love the style of play they have, and the coach and his relationship with his players – I really like that type of atmosphere, and I just thought it was the best fit for me.”

What was the progression that led you to playing basketball at the collegiate level?  “I always knew I wanted to play in college, but it wasn’t until 10th grade in my AAU season – we went to a lot of college showcase tournaments, and that’s when it started becoming real to me. I thought this is something I could do. With the help of my AAU coaches and high school, I met my goal.”

Coach Brittany Remmey says:  “This is my fourth year, so Jill was part of the first freshman class I had here at the high school. I’m very proud of the person she’s become. She was a leader even as a freshman and sophomore, maybe not vocally but definitely on the floor. She always had that presence out there for us. She’s definitely going to go and do great things in the medical profession. She’s very good with people. It’s been a pleasure getting to know Jill.”
