Final list of colleges: Wilkes, York, Messiah
Reasons for choosing Wilkes: “It was really a close race between a few other schools, and Wilkes was the only school that showed an interest in baseball, plus they are getting a seven million dollar grant for their engineering program, so that was really a plus for me.”
What was the progression that led you to playing baseball at the collegiate level? “It was around sophomore year – I started searching colleges. Wilkes just came to mind because I played with a catcher that went there, so it was always in my head. I knew the coach because prior to going to Wilkes he was the pitching coach at DeSales University, and I would go to a lot of camps there.”
Coach Jon Pallone says: “I’m very proud to see Zack sign at Wilkes University. I’ve known Zack for about six years since he was attending some of the pitching camps I worked at. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching him on several teams – summer baseball, fall baseball and school as well. He’s always demonstrated several good characteristics – hard work and dedication. In all the time I’ve known him, he’s always had the goal of playing baseball in college. The college coach at Wilkes University is very fortunate to be getting such a good moral character who has such a good, solid support system.
“Zack is much more than just a baseball player. He’s actually a quite talented young renaissance man. He’s a very talented musician and plays the tenor sax. He’s a very successful member of the technology student association. I look forward to watching him continue his career at Wilkes University.”
