Major: Business with a minor in Communications and Media Studies
Final list of colleges: Fordham, Delaware, Hofstra
Reasons for choosing Fordham: “Obviously, the academics are top notch. I fell in love with their coaches and team, and I fell in love with their campus. It’s right in New York City, and you can’t get much better than that.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball? “I have always wanted to play at a higher level. It was just a matter of making myself able to compete at that level. It really hit me when I got to high school, and my sister was going through the process, so I went through it with her too.”
Coach Dave Chichilitti says: “Lauren Quense is the greatest competitor I’ve ever coached. There’s not a single second where she’s not competing at the highest level. She’s going to Fordham next year, and I expect her to go in and earn a spot on their staff and with her bat because she’s an exceptional hitter, and she will help that program out instantly. They’re getting a kid who lives and breathes this sport and this game. One day a week she’s lifting, two days a week she’s pitching, and two days a week she’s hitting. How the kid pulls A’s I don’t know. She’s a phenomenal pitcher. She competes in that circle harder than anyone I’ve ever seen before.”
