Cody Reimenschneider – Dickinson College (Football)

Major:  Mathematics or Science

Final list of colleges:  Dickinson, Muhlenberg, Juniata

Reasons for choosing Dickinson:  “They are recruiting me as a quarterback, but that wasn’t the ultimate reason for my choice. I chose Dickinson for the tradition and legacy it has. It’s a great school, and I feel like when I come out of Dickinson later in life it will help me get a job.
“It was funny because Dickinson was not my first choice. My second visit to Dickinson really changed me and made me more open-minded. Academics are first, and that’s what Dickinson really emphasized. They look at academics first.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football?  “It was always something I thought about growing up. I always told myself if you get into a good academic school or you get into a football school that’s low in academics, you’re going to pick the academic school first because in the end – if I break my leg tomorrow, I know Dickinson will still be the top school.”

Coach Brian Hensel says:  “Cody was a great team leader all the way through the offseason and in the regular season, and he allowed us to take our first year with the spread offense and put it into fifth gear. He was a threat to throw and run at any time, and that really allowed us to keep some defensive teams off balance. He’s a very smart player. He called over 75 percent of our plays from the line of scrimmage, so he was calling his own plays. He hits his top speed within his first three steps, so the ability to run the ball becomes that much greater.
“He’s an awesome kid. He’s a very strong academic kid. I had him in my forensics class, and he was awesome in that. More than being smart in the classroom, he’s a student of the game. We log our hours on our online site, and his online hours for watching film were probably twice as much as the next closest guy. He loves football.”
